College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 27 with LSU sophomore RHP Kevin Gausman. The Centennial, Colorado native attended Grandview High School where he was a two-time All-State selection. As a senior, he went 9-2 with a 3.12 ERA while recording 88 strikeouts and 14 walks. His junior season saw him go 7-2 with a 2.15 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.
As a freshman at LSU in 2011, he went 5-6 and a 3.51 ERA in 89.2 innings with 23 walks and 86 strikeouts in 14 starts. He improved as the season went on going 3-1 record with a 1.17 ERA in his final four starts, recording five walks and 32 strikeouts in 30.2 innings.
He spent the summer of 2011 with the USA Collegiate National Team where he made two starts not recording a decision while having an ERA of 2.08 in 8.2 innings of work.
