BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several members of the Western Kentucky University baseball spent time earlier this week lending a hand at the local Salvation Army.

The players assisted by washing dishes, serving food and drinks to clients, waiting tables, cleaning the soup kitchen after lunch, making food boxes for the needing and providing good company for those people eating.

Hilltopper assistant coach Blake Allen said it was a great experience for the team and would a great opportunity for any sports team on campus.

Special thanks goes out to Farrah Yarbrough, who runs the soup kitchen, and Terry Wilson, who helped coordinate making food boxes for family, for letting the players come assist at the Salvation Army.

I met a group of the Hilltoppers a few years at Baylor. They sat on the hill beside me and my nephew. They were all very polite young men and several of them talked to my nephew, who was at his first baseball game. He is now a huge baseball fan and his “Friends” who sat next to him, helped make him love baseball. Thank you gentleman.
