Seton Hall releases 2012 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The defending BIG EAST Champion Seton Hall baseball team has announced its schedule for the 2012 season.

The Pirates will open the year with 11-straight road games including the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge, a trip to Knoxville for a three-game set with the University of Tennessee, and a double-elimination tournament at the University of Virginia.

Following their season-long road trip, the Hall will host Manhattan before heading back on the road for three more games at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. over spring break.

Starting on March 16, the Pirates will host seven straight games at Owen T. Carroll Field including the annual Strike Out Cancer Tournament which will include games with Fordham, NJIT and Maine. Seton Hall will remain home for a mid-week matchup with Saint Peter’s College and then open the BIG EAST schedule with a weekend series against in-state rival, Rutgers.

On March 30, Seton Hall will travel to Storrs, Conn. for a series with defending BIG EAST regular season champion Connecticut. Seton Hall eliminated the Huskies with a pair of victories in last year’s BIG EAST Championship.

In April and May, the Pirates will host Notre Dame, Villanova, West Virginia and Pittsburgh for weekend series at Owen T. Carroll Field. Seton Hall will travel to face Louisville, Georgetown and St. John’s.

Seton Hall’s home non-conference opponents include Lafayette on March 28, Wagner on April 11, NYIT on April 17, Iona on April 25 and Monmouth on May 8. The Pirates will travel to non-conference foes Rider on March 27, Princeton on April 10, Monmouth on April 24 and Saint Peter’s on May 1.
