Villanova has lined up a strong start to their 2012 season. The Wildcats will travel to Arkansas to begin their season on February 17th. The weekend series will be the first time the two programs have ever played each other.

Head coach Joe Godri is excited for the teams to finally meet. “Whenever you have the chance to play against a team from the Southeastern Conference you know that you are going to see one of the top programs in college baseball,” he said in a press release. “The atmosphere we will play in at Arkansas is what college baseball is all about.”

Villanova’s early season schedule also includes a late February weekend against Norfolk State, a match-up that has become a staple of their schedule over the past decade. Villanova will participate in the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida during the first week of March, playing Chicago State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Western Michigan, and Miami (Ohio.)

The Wildcats are releasing their 2012 schedule in pieces all week. They will have the entire schedule available to the public by Friday of this week.
