Here is your Fall Ball Update for October 28th.
Central Florida: Black 5 Gold 4
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – Trailing by as many as three runs in Game 2 of the Black and Gold World Series, the Black team never faltered, rallying for a three-run eighth inning to top the Gold team, 5-4, Thursday afternoon from the baseball complex. Game 3 will begin under the lights Friday night with first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
Taking a 2-0 series edge, the Black team must win tomorrow night, or lose by no more than four runs, to claim the World Series crown.
Ole Miss: Red 7 Blue 1
OXFORD, Miss. – R.J. Hively turned in a solid outing in the start, holding off the Blue team until his squad could come alive at the plate as the Red team claimed the Red-Blue World Series/Pizza Bowl with a 7-1 win on Thursday at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
Hively pitched 4.0 scoreless innings, matching the start from Bobby Wahl on Wednesday afternoon as the Red squad pitchers held the Blue team to two hits in the win.
Auburn: Gray 4 White 3
Spurred by six defensive double-plays, five of which were inning-enders, the Gray Team evened the Fall World Series at a game apiece with a 4-3 win on Thursday evening. Game 3 of the series will take place on Sunday at 12:30pm CT.
Creede Simpson and Tanner Cimo each scored two runs for the Gray Team, which rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to overcome a 3-2 deficit in the seven-inning contest.
Louisiana-Lafayette: Black 8 Red 2
The Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team began their annual Fall World Series at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field on Thursday with Black defeating Red 8-2 in Game 1 of the series.
Brian Bowman, Dylan Butler and Matt Hicks led the Black team with two RBI apiece. Chase Traffica, who allowed only one run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings before reaching his maximum pitch count, collected the win.
The Fall World Series continues with Game 2 at 6 p.m., on Friday and Game 3 at 4 p.m., on Saturday.
