Several sources stated to College Baseball Daily tonight that Texas Tech will hire current Oklahoma assistant Tim Tadlock. He currently is listed as the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for the Sooners.
Kendall Rogers of Perfect Game is also reporting the same news, but Texas Tech has yet to make a confirmation.
Tadlock has been a member of the Oklahoma coaching staff since Head Coach Sunny Golloway’s first full season in 2006. Prior to joining the staff in Norman, Tadlock was the head coach at Grayson County College from 1997 until 2005, and an assistant at Hill College from 1992 until 1996. While at the helm of the Grayson Vikings, Tadlock brought home a pair of NJCAA National Championships in 1999 and 2000, as well as NJCAA National Coach of the Year honors in the same years.
Tadlock’s hiring closes the coaching search that began when former Assistant Coach Tim Petrie was relieved of his duties in September. A former player at Texas Tech under Hall of Fame coach Larry Hays, Tadlock has a reputation as a top-notch recruiter, but his position at Tech is unconfirmed at this moment.
An odd note, after Tim Tadlock left Hill College to take over the head coaching duties at Grayson College, his vacant position was filled by Trent Petrie.
