SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College announced the 2012 baseball schedule today, which is highlighted by home games against Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Air Force. Road trips to South Carolina and Virginia Tech are also on the slate for head coach Todd Interdonato and his squad.
The Terriers will play a total of 56 games, including 34 contests at Russell C. King Field on the Wofford campus. Midweek contests include home-and-home series with Presbyterian College, Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate and UNC Asheville.
The season will start on Friday, February 17 against Kentucky and continue that weekend with match-ups against Dayton and Ball State. The Terriers will host Pittsburgh for a three-game series beginning on February 24. A weekend series with Albany, Air Force and Valparaiso starts on March 2.
On Friday, March 9, Wofford will begin a three-game home series with Eastern Kentucky. The Southern Conference slate will begin on Friday, March 16 with a series at the College of Charleston. The next Wednesday, Wofford will travel to South Carolina to face the 2010 and 2011 National Champions.
Wofford will host Samford in a weekend series beginning on Friday, March 23. A trip to Charleston to face The Citadel (March 30-April 1) will be followed by a two-game series at Virginia Tech on April 3 and 4.
In April, Wofford will have home conference series against Western Carolina (April 6-7), Elon (April 20-22) and Appalachian State (April 27-29). A road series against Davidson (April 13-15) is also on the slate.
The month of May begins with road conference series at Furman (May 4-6) and at UNC Greensboro (May 11-13). The regular season concludes with a home series against Georgia Southern (May 18-19).
The Southern Conference Tournament will be held from May 23-27 at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina. All dates are subject to change.
