Here is your Fall Ball Recap for October 3rd.
Purdue: Black 4 Gold 4
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sean McHugh and Stephen Talbott both drove in a pair of runs for their respective teams, but game three of Purdue baseball’s Black and Gold Series was tied 4-4 after nine innings when the game was suspended until next week.
The Black team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on an RBI single from Jon Bradford in the second inning and a two-run double from Talbott in the following frame.
The Gold team got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. McHugh gave his team the lead with a two-out, two-run single in the fifth.
Minnesota: Gold 7 Maroon 4
Trailing 4-0 after four innings, the Gold Team scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to come back and earn a 7-4 win over the Maroon Team, during the annual Parent’s Day on Saturday, Oct. 1. With the win, the Gold and Maroon Team are now tied, 2-2 in the annual Steak ‘N Beans series at Siebert Field.
JT Canakes had a team-best two RBI on two hits in four at bats. Michael Handel, David Bettenburg and Matt Puhl all had two hits, an RBI and scored a run, while Kurt Schlangen also had an RBI and a walk, while Mark Tatera had an RBI on one hit. Dan Olinger walked once and scored a run, while Trip Schultz added a double.
