LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech baseball program was among over 8,000 participants at the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday morning at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer and his son, Wade, participated in the 5K race while the team lined the streets and encouraged all of runners in the race and helped navigate the course.
“I think it is great to see the community come together to support a great cause,” Spencer said, “It is a great opportunity for our players to come out and get involved.”
The event – now in its 17th year – serves as the primary fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research. It is one of several national events held by the Komen organization.
Joining the Red Raider baseball program was the men’s basketball team who ran the 5K course.
