OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss baseball team will host 32 home dates and play seven series against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco announced on Wednesday with the release of the 2012 baseball schedule.
Season tickets for the upcoming season go on sale in November and season ticket packages remain for the 2012 campaign. Fans are encouraged to secure their spot early in what has become one of the nation’s premiere college baseball atmospheres.
“We’re excited about our schedule this upcoming season and think it is one that will be of interest to our fans as well,” Bianco said. “We have a good mix of teams in the non-conference that we hope will challenge us as we prepare for the rigors of the Southeastern Conference.”
The 2012 edition of the Rebels features the nation’s third ranked recruiting class and will take the field on February 17 in a three-game series at TCU before returning home for a 12-game home stand. Ole Miss then takes to the road for a midweek series at Louisville before coming back to O-U Stadium to kick-off Southeastern Conference play against the Auburn Tigers.
The Rebels will face five SEC teams at home this season, including showdowns with Auburn (Mar. 16-18), Florida (Mar. 30 – April 1), Arkansas (April 20-22), LSU (May 4-6) and Tennessee (May 11-13). Ole Miss will go on the road to play conference foes Alabama (Mar. 23-26), Kentucky (April 6-8), Georgia (April 13-15), Mississippi State (April 27-29) and Vanderbilt (May 17-19).
In non-conference action, the Rebels open the season at TCU (Feb. 17-19) before playing weekend series at home against UNC-Wilmington (Feb. 24-26), the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (Mar. 2-4) and Houston (Mar. 9-11).
Ole Miss will also play midweek contests at home against Arkansas State (Feb. 21), Memphis (Feb. 28), UT-Martin (Mar. 6), Southern Miss (Mar. 20), Jackson State (Mar. 27), Central Arkansas (April 10-11) and Murray State (May 1).
The Rebels will play a midweek series on the road at Louisville (Mar. 13-14) and traditional in-state rivalry games at Trustmark Park against Southern Miss (April 3) and Mississippi State for the Governor’s Cup on April 17.
Ole Miss will also face Memphis at AutoZone Park on April 24.
