PULLMAN, Wash. – Michael Naughton has joined the Washington State University baseball staff as the Cougars’ volunteer coach, skipper Donnie Marbut announced, Wednesday.
A native of Tacoma, Wash., Naughton was the head coach at Tacoma Community College from 2002-05. He was named the NWAACC Coach of the Year for the West Division in 2003. Prior to the being the Titans’ head coach, he was an assistant for current Cougar pitching coach Gregg Swenson at TCC from 1999-2001.
“We are so happy to have Michael and his entire family join our Cougar baseball family,” Marbut said. “Our staff has a long-standing relationship with him and he strengthens our program. He will work with the outfielders, coach the short game and be our first base coach. Michael will also run our Cougar Baseball Academy.”
Naughton earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations from Gonzaga where he was four-year member of the Bulldogs’ baseball team.
