LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced earlier this afternoon that Trent Petrie has been relieved of his duties as assistant coach, effective immediately.

“Trent has been an important part of this program and we wish him and his family nothing best the best. However, I feel it is in the best interest for the Texas Tech baseball program to make this change.” Spencer said.

As an assistant coach from 2008-2011, Petrie worked specifically with the base runners and infielders while also serving as Texas Tech’s recruiting coordinator the past three years.

A national search for Petrie’s replacement will begin immediately.
