Quick note from ASU football practice Saturday as senior linebacker Brandon Magee ruptured an achilles tendon. Magee has appeared in 27 games with 3 starts as a DH and outfielder for Arizona State baseball over the past 3 seasons. The Dodges ended up selecting him in the 27th round of this year’s draft but Magee decided to return to school to complete his football career and eventually get drafted into the NFL.Doug Haller of AzCentral.com filed this report on the story. It is unclear at this time whether Magee would file a medical redshirt claim with the NCAA so he could come back for the 2012 NCAA football season. I would expect that he would.

Update: Magee is expected to have surgery on Wednesday on his ankle and will redshirt this season returning in 2012 for the Sun Devils football squad. His baseball status is up in the air right now.
