Here is your 2011 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Day 3 Recap.
Alabama 12 UCF 5
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning en route to a season-high 12 runs to post a 12-5 victory over the Central Florida Knights in the elimination game of the Tallahassee Regional at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Alabama will now face Florida State tonight in the championship game of the Tallahassee Regional, which begins at 5 p.m. CT.
“I’m really proud of our team, that was a very quick turnaround from last night and a really tough game,” UA head coach Mitch Gaspard said. “I thought we showed some real toughness and character today to come out and play with the energy we played with. It started with Jonathan Smart on the mound who was tremendous again. They scored some runs early, be he was able to keep it at singles and settled in.”
Florida State 8 Alabama 1 (Top 6/Suspended)
The Florida State NCAA Regional game versus Alabama was suspended in the top of the sixth with FSU leading 8-1 Sunday evening. The game is scheduled to resume Monday at noon. Sun Sports will televise the remainder of Game Six and there will be no tickets required for fans to come to the remainder of the suspended game.
If Alabama comes back and wins Game Six, the final game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional will begin 50 minutes after the conclusion of that game. Sun Sports will broadcast that game as well. The stands will be cleared and tickets will be required to gain entrance into Game Seven.
