We offer up a history lesson on college baseball living legend Gary Ward courtesy of Oklahoma State University. The school posted a video two days ago which highlights Ward and his teams during the “Decade of Dominance” at Oklahoma State, a stretch that may never again be duplicated in college baseball. Ward authored one of the most dominant decades in all of college sports during the 80’s at Oklahoma State in which the Cowboys made seven consecutive trips to the College World Series (a feat that is still unmatched) and the team finished as the national runner ups three times during the decade.

Ward led OSU to 16 straight conference titles, 17 NCAA regional appearances and 10 trips to the College World Series. He compiled a record of 953-313-1 in 19 seasons in Stillwater. In 2002, he led New Mexico State to a Sun Belt Tournament Championship and an NCAA appearance. He finished with a career record of 1,022-361-1, which ranks 24th on the NCAA all-time wins list. He’s a member of two national college baseball Halls of Fame (College Baseball Foundation and ABCA) as well as the Hall of Fame at three different colleges (New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) as well as the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
