The Leathernecks kept the train rolling in the right direction and won three of four to take its second consecutive series this past weekend, a feat that has not been done since 2008. Finals week is always a challenging and interesting time for student-athletes. Balancing practices, workouts and final exams is something that requires immense focus and organization. I commend all student-athletes for the skills shown on and off the field.
Western Illinois will return to Alfred D. Boyer Stadium to host the Gents of Centenary College. The Summit League Tournament is in sight and the team realizes the importance of winning each pitch now more than ever.
I have been traveling with this team all season and to witness the transformation from beginning to end has been a legitimately awesome experience. However, the process will never end and the journey that these current members of the Purple Army have started will continue as future classes of talented and exciting athletes put on the Purple & Gold.
Western Illinois baseball’s transformation is underway and it is exciting to have a front row seat to watch the Leathernecks.
