Well it’ that time of the year again for our team. Its time for the second season. This is the season that we have prepared for day in and day out since the fall. This is the time that you dream of the stakes are raised and everything you do matters. Playoff baseball, there is nothing like it and we have the opportunity to play Chestnut Hill College at home for our schools first ever playoff game we have hosted.
This is a huge deal for our program and it shows how far we have come in a short amount of time. The thing that scares every coach is the elimination game that we find ourselves in today. In our conference, the CACC six teams make the conference playoffs the one and two seeds get a bye until the double elimination rounds while the three plays six and four plays five in a winner takes all to the second stage of the tourney. With one bad game or a miss que in the field and the great season we had could be over in a blink of an eye. We have had a great week of practice leading up to this week. As anybody who has read my blog has read about me talking about our hitting and some of the bad outings with the bat we have taken. We scaled back from as much hitting as normal to give our games some time to rest. Sometimes when you are struggling the best thing to do is take a step back and regroup not just keep swinging until its fixed. We have taken some of our best swings of the year this week during live scrimmages and even hit two homeruns which in my four years at Post I have only seen 4 homeruns hit out of that field, which is an impressive feat since how big our field is and how big it plays.
I am very pleased with the way the guys have gone about their business and I hope that it all transfers into the game. We have had a goal since day one of our fall and I do not want to see the Seniors career end without us reaching that goal. You can follow us during the playoffs on Twitter @CoachRix8. See you all next week…..I hope.
