Top 3 clubs stay the same but after that not so. #1 Stetson (37-10) stays in the top spot after sweeping ASUN series at FGCU…….. #2 TCU (33-14) also stays put taking 2 of 3 at Oklahoma St. In Sunday’s rubber match Ok St tied game with a run in btm 9th but TCU’s Zac Jordan hit a 2 out HR in top of 10th for a 8-7 win……… #3 Fresno St (33-10) went 3-2 in WAC games for the week. Fresno St beat Hawaii on Monday and split 4 games with Louisiana Tech.

Texas St (31-16) slides up 1 spot to #4 after a sweep at UTSA. With the sweep the Bobcats have a 3 game lead in SLC with 2 weekends left…….Troy (34-14) moves up 2 spots to #5 after a 3-1 week. The Trojans picked up a 8-7 win in 11 innings over Jacksonville St mid week before taking 2 of 3 from Louisiana……Elon (33-18) stays at #6 after a 3-1 week. Elon dropped a mid week game at UNCW before getting a sweep at The Citadel and get closer to wrapping up SOCON regular season title. Elon now has a 3.5 game lead on UNCG and only has one more SOCON series left vs Furman in 2 weeks. Down 5-3 with 2 outs and no one on in top 9th Elon got 4 singles in row and took 6-5 lead. The 3rd hit got past LF and allowed 2 runs to score. Citadel tied it in btm 9th with 2 out HR but Elon scored 2 in top 12th for 8-6 win and sweep.

FIU (32-16) has won 12 games in a row and moved up to #7. The Golden Panthers beat FGCU 19-6 midweek before sweeping Sunbelt series at MTSU. The 12 game win streak and 3 straight Sunbelt series sweeps has gotten FIU to just 1 game back of Troy in Sunbelt.

SE Louisiana (32-18) drops 6 spots to #10 with a 2-2 week. The Lions saw their RPI fall to #56 losing 2 of 3 to Nicholls St at home and now sit in 4th place in the Southland.

UCONN (33-13-1) shot all the way up to #11 going 2-0 vs South Florida. UCONN now has a comfortable 4 game lead on St Johns in the Big East. However UCONN swept St Johns so its more like a 5 game lead……..Also moving shooting up the standings was Jacksonville (29-18), who comes in at #12 going 3-2 on week including winning 2 of 3 from North Florida.

Florida Atlantic (27-19) falls just 2 spots to #13 after dropping 2 of 3 at Western Kentucky……Wichita St (30-22) stays at #14 even with a 2-3 week. The Shockers dropped both games of a home and home to Kansas but took 2 of 3 from Creighton in the big MVC series. With the series win WSU is still 2 games behind Creighton in the MVC.

2 more clubs shot up the standings with help of bad weeks from others. Western Kentucky (29-19) moves up 9 spots to #15 with a 2-2 week including winning 2 of 3 from FAU. Dallas Baptist (32-15) moves up 7 spots to #16 after a 2-2 week. The Patriots beat down Texas Tech 11-1 on Tuesday and won 1 of 3 at Texas A&M.

UNCG (27-18) climbs 6 spots to #19 after winning 2 of 3 at College of Charleston. With the series win the Spartans moved into 2nd place in SOCON and one of best turn around stories in college baseball in 2011. UNCG won 5-4 in 11 innings on Friday and lost 6-5 in btm 9th on Satuday. Sunday Greensboro entered the top of the 9th down 6-2 but 7 runs later they had a 9-6 lead heading to btm 9th……….College of Charleston (31-17) drops 5 spots to #20 with the home series loss to UNCG. The Cougars post season hopes also took a big hit losing 2 of 3………Georgia Southern (27-21) fell 7 spots to #21 with a 2-2 week. The Eagles got a walk off win over Charleston Southern on Wednesday but dropped 2 of 3 at home to Wofford. After evening series with 12-4 win over Wofford on Saturday GSU gave up 10 runs in top of 1st inning on Sunday.

Creighton (32-12) drops 2 spots to #23 with series loss at Wichita St…….Cal St Bakersfield (26-18) stuggles continue going 1-3 and dropping 7 spots to #25. Cal St Bakersfield split 2 games at Kansas St before losing both games on the weekend to Loyola Marymount.

3 teams dropped out of top 25 in week 12. #9 Louisville (25-23) went 0-5 on week and dropped all the way out. It takes something rather bad to drop out from #9. The Cardinal dropped 2 home mid week games to a good E. Michigan club before getting swept at Seton Hall. E. Michigan then lost 2 of 3 to N. Illinios so try and explain that one?………..#20 Stephen F. Austin (30-17) also had a really bad week going 0-4. The Lumberjacks dropped a mid week game at Rice then entered the weekend tied for 1st with Texas St in the SLC but got swept at home by Sam Houston St……….#22 Pittsburgh (28-18) dropped out of the rankings after a 2-3 week. Pitt picked up wins over Cleveland St and at Akron during week before being swept at St Johns.

3 teams out means 3 teams in. Sam Houston St (33-17) jumps back into the rankings at #18 with a 4-0 week. The Bearkats beat Texas Southern on Tuesday before traveling to 1st place Stephen F. Austin and picking up a huge sweep by scores of 5-1, 7-3 and 3-2 on Sunday………..ETSU (30-16) gets back in top 25, after 8 weeks out, at #22 with a 3-1. ETSU picked up a 5-3 win at App St (28-19) on Wednesday before traveling to Raleigh, NC and taking 2 of 3 from NC State. With the wins ETSU’s RPI #33 now looks not so head scratching……..Also reappearing in top 25 after long time on outside is St Johns (26-17) who comes in at #24. St Johns gets back in with a sweep of Pittsburgh in Big East play.

Kent State as a bubble team?!

It was Kent St who won 2 of 3 vs Miami or St Johns who swept Pitt. And that is Miami of Ohio.

Gonzaga and Michigan State not even on the bubble? That’s silly. I know the poll is just for fun but make it a little more credible. Have you seen these teams play? Pretty good clubs.

Michigan State had a good year, and you are right they are on the bubble, if they finish up strong they should get in. n

Gonzaga and Michigan St are certainly on the list of teams called “bubbles”. Week #1 listed a bunch of teams on the list and decided just to list 5 teams. The 5 teams are usually the 5 closest that week. But there is a list of about 20+ teams on bubble list each week keep track of. This late not its rare a team will jump out of now where to get on list.
