Stanford is back on the winning track in the Pac-10 by knocking off UCLA and Gerrit Cole 7-4 Thursday night. Mark Appel threw seven strong innings, striking out six, giving up nine hits and three earned runs and walking three. He was aided by three homeruns, including back to back shots in the 7th by Tyler Gaffney and Steven Piscotty. Stanford is now 4-6 in the Pac-10 and and 18-12 overall. After being swept last week by the red-hot Oregon State, the Cardinal look to be back on the winning track and look to hit their stride heading into the postseason. CollegeBaseballToday.com’s Eric Sorenson and myself caught up with Stanford Head Coach Mark Marquess after the game, and you can check out the interview below.
