We caught up with College Baseball Foundation Executive Director Mike Gustafson in Austin, Texas. The College Baseball Foundation founded the College Baseball Hall of Fame, and is in the fundraising stage to build a permanent structure in Lubbock, Texas. Currently, Gustafson splits time with the Foundation and doing color commentary for Texas Tech’s radio broadcast. He spoke with us about the progress that has been made in the fundraising spectrum, as well as the processes they have undertaken to ensure the success of the Hall of Fame.

It’s all about economics, bringing the tourist dollars to Lubbock. I can understand the big effort and coordination going into creating the Hall and its environs, but from a fan point of view, it would have been nice to see it in Omaha, where the CWS is held every year.
