At some point in the season, a team needs to become consistent in all phases of the game if they are going to have success. To this point our starting pitching has been pretty solid but we can’t win on starting pitching alone. At some point we are going to need a consistent effort from our bullpen to back up the effort we are getting each weekend from guys like Russell and Sterling. In the first few weeks of the season we were waiting on our bats to heat up so we could really start rollin’ as a team, well we have been hitting the heck out of the ball lately. Tommy Lilja has been big for us all season and continued his success with two homeruns on Sunday (one hit the top of the left field trees). Matt Igara was named Summit League player of the month after leading the league in hits and doubles and John Koszulinki is on a tear these past few months.
There is no better time than right now for the Purple Army to start putting it all together in every phase of the game. We have the talent and I truly believe we haven’t played a team this year that we couldn’t stand toe to toe with. Oral Roberts comes to Alfred D. and there is no better time than now to climb to the top of the conference rankings. How will the Necks respond after a tough opening conference weekend? The Purple Army has worked way to hard to just lay down to anybody, especially this early in the season. I think it’s time to get on a roll.

“The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That’s real glory. That’s the essence of creating the identity of the purple army.”
