According to The Mercury News, the Cal baseball program is closing in on being reinstated by Athletic Director Sandy Barbour. Stu Gordon reportedly met with Cal chancellor Robert Birgeneau where he detailed nine million dollars of private pledges to restore the program. The school has said that the goal would be 10 million dollars so this is very encouraging news that they have nearly reached the number,
We should see if the report from The Mercury News is true as there was several reports that the baseball program was saved back in February but they turned out to be false. You can check out the full Mercury News article by clicking here.
