#7 Florida State 11 Wake Forest 2
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – It took the Florida State baseball team three batters Sunday to do what it couldn’t a night earlier – put runs on the board against Wake Forest.
Mike McGee hammered a two-run home run in the first and James Ramsey followed with a solo shot on the next pitch, spurring the fifth-ranked Seminoles to an 11-2 win over the Demon Deacons.
“It was nice that we got out there today an established ourselves early with a three spot in the first and a five spot in the second,” FSU coach Mike Martin said. “It gives you a relaxing feeling.”
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Colin Moran blasted his fourth home run in five games when he connected on a game-tying three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth and Jacob Stallings singled in the game-winning run in the 11th as No. 12 North Carolina (23-3, 7-2 ACC) fought back for a 7-6 win over visiting Duke (15-11, 2-7 ACC) Sunday afternoon. The win was Carolina’s ninth straight overall and sixth straight ACC victory.
After allowing a pair of run in the top of the ninth Carolina trailed 6-3 heading into its final at bat needing a rally to keep an eight-game winning streak alive.
Tommy Coyle extended his ACC-leading hit streak to 15 games when he hit a slow bouncer to shortstop that he was able to beat out. Pinch hitter Matt Roberts lifted the first pitch he saw into foul territory down the first base line as Dennis O’Grady made a basket catch for the first out of the inning.

The Tigers tallied three doubles in the second inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. After N.C. State pulled to within a run on a solo homer in the third, the Tigers pulled away with a run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth inning. The victory was Jack Leggett’s 1,159th in his career, which moved into solo possession of 19th place on the all-time wins list by a head coach at a Division I school.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Sophomore Buck Farmer held Miami to one run over eight strong innings, and the 12th-ranked Georgia Tech baseball team scored a pair of ninth inning runs for a 3-1 victory and series sweep of the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon at Alex Rodriguez Park.
The Yellow Jackets (21-4, 9-0 ACC) extended their win streak to 16 games, and swept Miami (14-11, 6-3 ACC) for the first time since 1967. It was also Tech’s first ever sweep on Miami’s turf.
“It doesn’t happen very often that anyone comes to Miami and sweeps,” head coach Danny Hall said. “So it was a great weekend overall for us.” I thought Buck Farmer pitched outstanding today, [Jacob] Esch made some nice plays defensively, and then we found a way to win late in the game once again.”
