Even though it was a rough weekend for the Leathernecks at Kansas State, we are starting to see some improvements in certain areas. Tom Lilja ignited the offense with two homeruns in two games, and Ryan Cowhey also added a 3-run shot of his own. Just because the win/loss column is not how we would like it at this point of the season, we are confident that our pitching performances will remain steady and our bats will start to come alive.
Tony LaRussa, manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, has been quoted several times saying that their team wants to put a “hard nine” together. As the Leathernecks prepare for a Spring Break trip to Indiana and St. Louis, we also are looking to put together a hard nine. We are starting to come together as a team and believe not only in ourselves, but in each other as well. With this combination our lineup and pitching staff can be deadly. Look for the Leathernecks to start turning things around starting this weekend.
