Sometimes you have to just stop thinking and play ball. A 1-6 start is not where we saw ourselves after the first 7 games, but you can’t control the past. We just need to continue progressing as the season moves forward. Sunday was a good start. We had a hell of a pitching performance from Dan Russell, who was called upon to get the start after working out of the bullpen earlier in the series. He gave a shot of energy to a team that needed it and all of a sudden we were finally playing baseball like we should. Hopefully we can relax and play ball now that the first win is out of the way after beating Georgia State 8-2. All we can do is take each game one at a time, play hard for the full 9 innings, and see what the results are at the end. If we can continue to progress and play with the same intensity as we did on Sunday, we will be a very good team.
The injury bug has been out in full fledge in these first two weekends of games for us and hopefully we can get everyone healthy here soon as we head to Kansas State for a four game set this weekend. The Wildcats are a very good team, but I think we are as well and we will set out to prove that starting Friday.
