College Baseball Daily for the third straight season will release a Player and Pitcher of the Week Award. This week we honor Rance Roundy of UNLV and Gerrit Cole of UCLA.
Senior UNLV outfielder Rance Roundy had an outstanding week with the Rebels going 8-for-19 from the plate. He also tallied four homers and two doubles while collecting nine RBI and scoring nine times in the four game sweep over Maine. The game on Friday against Maine was his first appearance in the lineup since February 19th of 2010 when he suffered a season ending injury. As a junior in 2009, he appeared in 43 games (42 starts) hitting .364 which was the third best on the team.
Junior RHP Gerrit Cole tossed a complete game shutout on Friday against the University of San Francisco. He only gave up four hits while walking one batter while striking out eleven out of the 29 batters he faced. Last season, Cole had a 11-4 record with a 3.37 ERA in 123.0 innings leading the Bruins to the College World Series.

Props to Elkins, the young man from Dallas Baptist who hit three homers over the weekend, two of which were Grand Slams. He also collected 9 RBI.nn….B.B.
