CINCINNATI — Former Musketeer standout catcher Dan Hayden has been named the new assistant coach for the Xavier baseball team. Hayden, a 2008 graduate of Xavier University, was captain of the 2008 Atlantic 10 regular season champion Musketeers.
“I am very excited to have Danny (Hayden) on our staff,” said Xavier head coach Scott Googins. “He was a terrific player and he will bring a wealth of experience to our staff. His experience as a player here at Xavier will help him as he works with our current players.”
“I’m very excited to be back at Xavier,” said Hayden. “My time spent playing here was some of the more memorable years of my life. I look forward to helping keep the Musketeers at the top of the Atlantic 10 and to continue the success that has become expected of our program.”
Hayden was a three-year letterman for Xavier and spent his freshman year at Miami University. He attended McNicholas High School in Cincinnati where he was a First Team All-Greater Catholic League selection and team captain. While a student-athlete at both Miami and Xavier he was an active member of Athletes in Action.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport studies from Xavier in 2008 and is currently pursuing a master’s in kinesiology.
