USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Mark Crocco was named assistant coach today by Air Force baseball head coach Maj. Mike Kazlausky. Crocco comes to the Academy from Wingate University, where he was an Assistant Coach.
Crocco spent the last spent the last two seasons assistant baseball coach working with the Bulldog hitters and infielders and was the head coach of the developmental team. Crocco is a 2010 graduate of Wingate, where he was a four-year letterwinner (2005-08).
At Wingate, Crocco worked with the Bulldog hitters and infielders and was the head coach of the developmental team. The 2010 Wingate Bulldogs were South Atlantic Conference Champions (19-5) in conference play. Crocco assisted in numerous facets of the program including game day operations, camp duties and assisting the infield and hitters throughout the 2010 championship season. Crocco coached under head coach Allen Osborne (University of Georgia). In 2010 Wingate’s JV team went 12-4 on the year under Crocco.
In the summer of 2010, Crocco took on the full time duties as the head coach for the Charlotte Area Anglers Showcase Baseball Team. He instructed and directed the high school baseball players in the Charlotte area by playing an extensive summer baseball schedule. The Anglers play for the Central Carolinas Prospects (CC Prospects) who have placed numerous high school baseball players throughout North Carolina into NCAA Universities, Major League Baseball organizations and junior colleges all over the nation. The South Central Anglers were league champions in Crocco’s first year as the head coach.
During the summer of 2009, Crocco was an assistant coach in the Nampa Wolfpack of the Boise (Idaho) Collegiate Summer League. The Wolfpack went 21-12 on the season and led the league in numerous offensive categories. He was also the online broadcaster and on field announcer for the summer league’s news coverage while serving as director of baseball operations for the league. He was the head coach of the East Union Middle School baseball team in the spring of 2007.
Crocco earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (with a minor in sport management) from Wingate University in May, 2010. Crocco is a native of Perkasie, Pa. He lettered in varsity baseball at Pennridge High School. Mark Crocco, Jr. is the son of Mark Crocco, Sr. and Dawn Crocco.
