Mizzou Baseball has released its schedule for the 2011 season, which will get underway on Feb. 18 at the USC Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. On the schedule are 30 games at Taylor Stadium, 22 road matchups and five neutral site contests.
The Tigers have 16 games against teams that qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament and will face two teams (Charlotte and Central Arkansas) for the first time in school history.
Missouri will spend the first two weeks of the season on the road, starting with the tournament at USC, where it will face Southern California, Cal Poly and North Carolina. The following week, MU will travel to the East Coach for a four-game series at Charlotte.
The home schedule kicks off on March 4 when the Tigers open a four-game set against Illinois-Chicago. That game will kick off a 19-game homestand at Taylor Stadium. That homestand concludes with a three-game series against Oklahoma (March 25-27), which will open the Big 12 Conference season.
Other conference home series on the slate this year include Kansas (April 15-17), Texas A&M (April 29-May 1) and Texas Tech (May 13-15).
Missouri will be on the road for Big 12 series against Texas (April 1-3), Oklahoma State (April 8-10), Baylor (April 21-23), Kansas State (May 6-8) and Nebraska (May 19-21).
Once again in 2011, Mizzou has games scheduled in both of the Major League Baseball stadiums in Missouri. MU and Illinois will meet at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on March 29 and the Tigers will face Kansas in a non-conference game at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium on April 6. The game at Kauffman Stadium will follow the Royals-White Sox game earlier that afternoon.
Mizzou will also take on Eastern Illinois on April 26 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon, Mo.
The Big 12 Tournament will get underway on May 25 at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Okla. and the NCAA Tournament will begin on June 3.
