Gonzaga Baseball Gives Back

SPOKANE, Wash. – Members of the Gonzaga University baseball team volunteered at the Annual Christmas Reunion held at Valley Real Life in Spokane on Dec. 4. The event benefited the American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest, formerly known as Candlelighters of the Inland Northwest. The Annual Christmas Reunion helped raise awareness about childhood cancer in the Spokane community and raise money to support programs and services that benefits children with cancer and their families.

Andy Hunter, Karl Myers, Kenny Smith, Steven Halcomb, Marco Gonzales, Cameron Edman, Billy Moon, David Bigelow, Derek Peterson and Royce Bolinger mingled with over 300 family members who participated the event. Activities included games and arts and crafts.

This was the third consecutive year the baseball club participated in this event.

The American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families who live in eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana.

The Zags open the 2011 season Feb. 18 in Fresno, Calif., for a doubleheader against Oregon State University and Fresno State University, respectively. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
