CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – Southeast Missouri State baseball coach Mark Hogan has released the schedule for the 2011 season.

The Redhawks will open up the season in Lafayette, La. against Louisiana-Lafayette. The season will begin on Friday, February 18 at 6 p.m. “Louisiana-Lafayette has a very storied program, and this early test will not only help us, but give our injured players from last season a competitive early matchup,” said coach Hogan.

Southeast Missouri will have the 2011 home opener at Capaha Park on Tuesday, February 22 at 4 p.m. against in-state foe Harris Stowe.

Other in state matchups feature a home and home series against Saint Louis University, and two road games in Springfield, Mo. against the Bears of Missouri State University.

The Redhawks will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to face Southeastern Conference University of Arkansas on May 3-4. “This matchup is a great fit for both programs,” continued Hogan. “We play a very good ball club and get to compete in a first class venue.”

“We have a very competitive schedule in 2011,” stated Hogan. “This is a good test for our club, and will get us prepared for conference play.”

The Redhawks open up Ohio Valley Conference play at home on March 26-27 against Morehead State. Southeast is attempting to make an appearance in the conference tournament for the 17th consecutive season.
