St.JoesBaseballPHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s head baseball coach Fritz Hamburg has announced the addition of former Hawk baseball player and assistant coach Joe Tremoglie to the SJU coaching staff. The 1996 graduate will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season.

“We’re glad to have Joe on board this year,” said Hamburg. “As a former player and coach on Hawk Hill, Joe understands what it means to be a part of the program here at Saint Joseph’s, and we are looking forward to him sharing his experience with the current squad as well as the rest of the coaching staff.”

Tremoglie spent four seasons in the Crimson and Gray as a player, appearing in 75 games at first base and making 24 starts. He enjoyed his best season as a junior in 1995, hitting .280.

From 2001-2004 the Philadelphia native served as an assistant coach under headman Jim Ertel. Ertel was an assistant during Tremoglie’s playing years at SJU.

Most recently, Tremoglie served as the head baseball coach at Roman Catholic High School, his alma mater.

The Hawks posted 13 Atlantic 10 wins in 2010, the most conference victories in school history. The squad will look to improve on that number when the 2011 season begins on February 18 with a four-game set at Old Dominion.
