The CBB continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 94 with Mercer junior third baseman Jacob Tanis. He is from Peachtree City Georgia and attended McIntosh High School. He earned four letters in baseball while also picking up two with the basketball program. He was named first team all-state and regional player of the year as a senior.
Tanis had a breakout season as a freshman as he appeared in 43 games (42 starts) while hitting .340 with 11 homers and 35 RBI. He was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team while also picking up All-American honors from Louisville Slugger.
He had an even better season as a sophomore as he hit .388 (second on the team) with a team high totals of 22 homers and 88 RBI. He appeared among the NCAA leaders as he finished 40th in the nation in runs scored (69), 10th in hits (104), tied for 19th in doubles (25), 12th in home runs (22), second in RBI (88), 31st in slugging percentage (.735) and third in total bases (197). He was selected in the 26th round by the Colorado Rockies but decided to head back to Mercer for his junior season.
He spent the summer of 2010 in the Northwoods League with the Alexandria Beetles. He led the team in hitting with a .315 average with nine homers and 29 RBI in 43 games.

He had more RBI’s then Rice’s Anthony Rendon. I probably should of had him a little bit higher.
dont forget about dexter kelley…savannah state univ…in florida collegiate league hit 320.. number one in steals per game in the league and dring the year for division 1 players…
