Coach_Rak_9_Cropped_1WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross has named Ron Rakowski as the new assistant baseball coach, as announced by athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. Rakowski’s responsibilities will be coaching Crusader pitchers and assisting in recruiting duties.

“We are extremely excited to add Coach Rakowski to the list of fantastic assistant coaches that have enabled Holy Cross to climb back into the forefront of the premier teams in the Patriot League,” said head coach Greg DiCenzo. “‘Coach Rak’ brings coaching experience to our staff never seen since my arrival here at Holy Cross and I know the players are thrilled to be able to learn under his tutelage.”

Prior to joining the Holy Cross coaching staff, Rakowski was the head assistant/pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, Wash. While at Tacoma, Ron helped recruit and place over 40 players to four-year schools, including seven to the NCAA Division I level.

In addition to his baseball duties on campus, Rakowski also served as an adjunct faculty member in the physical education department and supervised game management at TCC home athletic events. During his time in Washington, he also coached for the RIPS Brewers, one of the top high school select teams in the state. While with the Brewers, he worked with 2010 MLB first round (17th overall) draft pick, Josh Sale, and third round draft pick, Ryan Brett.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the Holy Cross family,” said Rakowski. “Coach DiCenzo, his staff and the Athletic Department as a whole have done an outstanding job of making the school and its baseball program a destination for some of the top student-athletes in the country. I look forward to continuing to make Holy Cross the best possible experience for our players as we compete for a Patriot League championship.”

During the summers, Rakowski works as a coach at the Stanford University All-Star Baseball Camp as well as high school All-Star camps at Gonzaga and Kansas. He received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from San Francisco State in 2002 and recently earned his master’s degree in teaching with a specialization in teaching leadership from National University in 2009. He currently resides in Worcester, Mass., with his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Susannah.
