MiamiOHBaseball OXFORD, Ohio — Tournaments at the College of Charleston and UNC Wilmington, plus the annual spring break trip to Russ Matt Invitational, highlight the 2011 Miami baseball schedule, Head Coach Dan Simonds announced today. The RedHawks also face traditional local rivals Cincinnati, Xavier, Wright State and Dayton with a noted addition — Miami travels to Columbus to face Ohio State on Wednesday, April 6.

"We are very excited about the challenges of the 2011 schedule," Simonds said. "This schedule gives our players a great opportunity to compete against some of the premier programs in the country. We will certainly be tested early with two quality tournaments in the Carolinas."

The campaign opens Friday, Feb. 18 with the opening game of the College of Charleston Tournament. The first home game is March 23 when Eastern Kentucky visits McKie Field at 6 p.m.

The Mid-American Conference slate includes nine weekend series with Ball State, Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Buffalo visiting Oxford. Miami travels to Central Michigan for the league opener March 25-27 and also face Northern Illinois, Akron, Kent State and Ohio on the road.

The Joe Nixhall Classic continues for a third straight season in 2011 with the University of Cincinnati serving as host April 12-13.
