SchlossTCU FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte has announced a new contract for Horned Frog baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle that extends through the 2016 season.

Schlossnagle earned 2010 National Coach of the Year honors after leading TCU to its first appearance at the College World Series, a 54-14 record and a final ranking of No. 3 in every major poll.

"Jim Schlossnagle is a perfect fit at TCU," Del Conte said. "He takes tremendous pride in wearing a Horned Frog uniform.

"In addition to his on-field success, Jim has done a remarkable job in helping create a passionate fan base for TCU baseball that saw us average over 3,000 fans per home date last year. He has established TCU as a name synonymous with the elite in collegiate baseball. He has also taken a great responsibility in recruiting and mentoring our student-athletes in the baseball program to be outstanding representatives of TCU.

"Everything about Jim is first class. He simply does things the right way."

The top seven win totals in school history have all come in the seven years Schlossnagle has been at TCU. He is 305-154 (.664) in the Horned Frog dugout, including 17 wins over top-10 teams, and has led TCU to seven consecutive conference championships and postseason appearances. He has been named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year all five seasons TCU has been in the league.

"I am continually thankful to Mr. Del Conte and Chancellor (Victor) Boschini for not only giving me the opportunity to be at TCU, but for their continued commitment to our baseball program and its student-athletes," Schlossnagle said. "It is very rare in my profession to find the perfect combination of a university that is committed to excellence across the board, a city that, for me, is the best place to live in our country and a fan base and support group that has allowed our program to become extremely relevant in the community.

"My family and I love TCU and Fort Worth and look forward to continuing to grow this program."

TCU has hosted and won NCAA Regionals each of the last two seasons. In addition to making their first trip to Omaha, the 2010 Horned Frogs became one of just nine teams to advance to the Super Regionals for the second straight season. TCU’s 186-65 (.741) record over the last four years ranks fifth nationally.

TCU’s recruiting classes have annually rated among the nation’s best, including a No. 4 ranking in 2010 by Baseball America. Schlossnagle has had 28 players drafted in his seven seasons.
