Bryant University releases 2011 Schedule

BryantBaseball SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head baseball coach Steve Owens has announced the team’s schedule for the upcoming 2011 season, as the program looks to defend its regular-season Northeast Conference title.

This will be Owens’ first season at the helm for the Bulldogs, as the club enters the third go-around of the mandatory four-year transitional period to become an official NCAA Division I program. The Bulldogs will play 18 home games in 2011 as part of a schedule that features a full NEC slate as well as contests against Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Harvard, Connecticut and intrastate rivals Brown and Rhode Island.

Bryant, which compiled a 34-22 overall record last year in its second season of Division I competition, opens the 2011 campaign with 11-consecutive away games in warmer weather before returning to Smithfield, R.I. on Wednesday, March 16 to host Boston College in the home opener.

The Bulldogs head back out on the road March 18-20 for a three-game series at Central Connecticut to mark the start of Northeast Conference play.

The complete 47-game schedule will have the Bulldogs on the road for 29 matchups, including visits to Maine on April 1-3, Boston College on April 6, Brown on April 27 and Siena on May 3.

Throughout the season, the Bulldogs will host several key games against regional DI opponents at the Bryant Baseball Complex, including Harvard on April 5, Rhode Island on April 13 and UConn on April 26.

The Bulldogs close out home action with a series against Quinnipiac May 6-8 before ending the regular season with a three-game set at Fairleigh Dickinson May 13-15.
