SAN DIEGO, Calif. – For the second year in a row, the University of San Diego baseball team will volunteer and help launch the fall baseball season for the Miracle League of San Diego.   Last year, USD baseball assisted with the assisting with the celebration of Miracle League’s Opening Day, which included event registration, a fan fest and home run derby.

On Sunday, September 19th the USD baseball team will host a Players Skills Clinic for Miracle League players at Engel Family Field in San Dieguito Park.  Participants will have an opportunity to rotate through different centers to practice hitting, throwing, fielding and rounding the bases as players prepare for their fall season!

Using baseball as a means to connect with youth, this is clearly more than about instruction and drills.  It is a chance to serve and give back to our community, as well as an opportunity to influence and impact individuals in our community.  As the Toreros continue to perform active roles in community service events, volunteering brings us closer to different people from various aspects of life.

The Miracle League of San Diego is a charitable organization that provides special needs children with mental or physical challenges the opportunity to fulfill their dreams of playing baseball. The custom-designed field is completely flat with a cushioned, rubberized surface to accommodate wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players and is

Southern California’s only field designed specifically to accommodate participants with special needs.
