The North Shore Navigators got two runs in the first inning on a Matt Hamlet (Boston College) double and an RBI single from Anthony Melchionda (Boston College) as they picked up a 2-0 win over the Danbury Westerners in the first game of the NECBL Championship Series.
Kevin Kyle (Clemson) was masterful on the mound for the Navigators as he let up no runs in 7.1 inning while allowing five hits and two walks while striking out 12 batters. Hunter Rivers (Jacksonville State) pitched the ninth inning for the Navigators giving up one hit while striking out two batters to pick up the save.
Kevin Kilpatrick (St. John’s) was the tough luck loser for the Westerners giving up only those two first inning runs as he went all eight innings while allowing eight hits, one walk, and striking out two batters.
