NECBL Here is your NECBL Playoffs Recap for August 2nd. There are four series with North Shore Navigators facing off against Sanford, Newport playing Laconia, Keene playing North Adams, and Bristol playing Danbury.

North Shore Navigators 1 Sanford Mainers 0

Braxton Graven (Bellarmine University) led off the bottom of the first inning with a triple and would score on a Cody Dent (Florida) groundout for the first run and only run of the game at the Navigators got the 1-0 victory. North Shore starting pitcher Crayton Bare (Baylor) pitched a complete game five hitter without allowing a walk while striking out five batters to get the win. Samford Mainers starting pitcher Shane Davis (Canisius) pitched an eight inning complete game giving up only that first inning hit to Braxton Graven while walking one and striking out five batters. (FULL BOX SCORE). The series continues at Sanford at 6:35 pm with the Navigators looking to close out the series with another win.

Newport Gulls 7 Laconia Muskrats 2

Newport’s Connor Harrell (Vanderbilt) went 2-4 with a solo homer to lead the Gulls to the 7-2 victory in the Eastern Division playoffs. Tony Bucciferro (Michigan State) was solid on the mound giving Newport seven strong innings while giving up seven hits and two runs. He struck out four batters while walking one to get the victory. Jordan Harrison (North Central Texas CC) got the loss after being knocked out of the game after 3.2 innings of work giving up four runs on seven hits and walking two batters. (FULL BOX SCORE). Newport will look to complete the sweep at 7pm on Tuesday when they visit Laconia for game 2.

Bristol Collegiate 5 Danbury Westerners 2

Bristol Collegiate Baseball Team scored five runs over the final four innings to erase a 1-0 deficit and take Game 1 of their three game series with the Danbury Westerners. Rick Devereaux (Duquesne) led the offensive attack by going 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Kevin Pettine (Southern Connecticut State) started for Bristol as he went 5.1 innings giving up four hits and one run while walking one batter and striking out six. He got the no-decision. Danbury sent Mike Hauschild (Dayton) to the hill where he went 6.1 innings giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts as he picked up the loss. Teddy Hurvul (UConn) got the win after pitching a scoreless inning while Mitch Rossi (New Haven) pitched a perfect ninth to get the save. (FULL BOX SCORE) Bristol will look to end the series on Tuesday at home with first pitch scheduled for 7pm.

Keene Swamp Bats 2 North Adams SteepleCats 1

Paul Karmas (St. John’s) got a two out two run single to drive home Jeremy Baltz (St. John’s) from third and Brett Jacobs (Washington State) from second for the only two runs the Swamp Bats would need as they picked up a 2-1 victory over the Western Division champion North Adams SteepleCats. Scott Firth (Clemson) went eight strong innings for Keene to get the victory as he let up five hits and only one run while walking three batters and striking out seven. Robert Nixon (Adelphi) got the loss after giving up eight hits and two runs in 6.2 innings. He struck out three batters while walking only one batter. (FULL BOX SCORE) Keene will look to sweep the series on Tuesday when they host the SteepleCats up at Alumni Field where first pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
