Barret Loux of Texas A&M has been added to the Cotuit Kettleers roster today. Loux was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the sixth overall selection in the 2010 MLB Draft but hit a snag when he reportedly failed his physical due to a shoulder issue. He went 11-2 with a 2.83 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) while striking out 136 batters in only 105 innings of work. He held opponents to a .202 batting average.
Loux’s 2009 season was cut short when he had a bone spur removed from his pitching elbow after appearing in 12 games with a 3-3 record and a 4.12 ERA.
Loux is the second highly touted 2010 draftee to play in the Cape Cod League this summer to help raise their negotiating power. He is trying to prove to the Diamondbacks during this brief stint in the Cape that he isn’t damaged goods.

So I guess now we know why Casali was dropped off at this time. PS. Curt was done because a pitch hit his index finger on a bunt attempt. That’s for digging on that one.
