Boston College head coach Mik Aoki has accepted the Notre Dame head coaching job tonight as I previously reported on June 29th. (FULL ARTICLE) Aoki spent the last four seasons in charge of the Eagles bringing them to two ACC tournaments the last two seasons and the NCAA Tournament in 2009.His career record with the Eagles was 114-104-1 while having a career head coaching record of 201-248-1 after spending five seasons in charge of the Columbia program before becoming the pitching coach at Boston College under former BC and current VT head coach Peter Hughes.
We should see who gets the Boston College job over the next couple of weeks but noone on the current staff are expected to get the promotion. According to my sources, Virginia Tech Assistant Coach and Boston College 1999 graduate Mike Gambino is the leading candidate for the position.
As most of you know, I have been the leading source for information on this opening and will continue to break stories throughout the summer.
