RaynorHouston HOUSTON – University of Houston Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades announced Tuesday evening that baseball head coach Rayner Noble and the Athletics Department settled on a mutually agreeable resignation.

"My 16 years as baseball head coach at the University of Houston have been a tremendous experience and blessing," Noble said. "I wish the team and program many years of success in the future. I only hope my next 16 years of coaching are as good as the last 16 have been."

Noble, who was the seventh coach in school history, leaves as the program’s winningest coach with a 551-420 career record in 16 seasons at his alma mater. During his tenure, he led the Cougars to three NCAA Super Regional Appearances, eight NCAA Regional berths and six Conference USA regular-season and Tournament championships.

"We thank Rayner for his years of service to our baseball program and the University," Rhoades said. "We wish him and his family the best in the future."

Rhoades said a national search would begin immediately for Noble’s successor.

Neither Rhoades nor Noble will have any further comment.
