I asked all of my writers for their predictions for the 2010 College World Series which starts up today in Omaha with TCU facing off against Florida State in Game 1 while UCLA and Florida face off in the second game. As you probably already know, we have previewed all the CWS teams as you can check it out by clicking here.
Bracket 1 | Bracket 2 | National Champion | |
Brian Foley | Florida | Arizona State | Florida |
Mark Rafferty | Florida | Arizona State | Arizona State |
Kat Hasenauer | Florida | Arizona State | Arizona State |
Bryan Young | UCLA | Arizona State | Arizona State |
Brent Blough | TCU | Arizona State | Arizona State |
Here is my writers reason behind their picks.
Brian Foley: I think the Gators are by far the strongest team still left in the Tourney based on the hitting of Preston Tucker and Austin Maddox.
Brent Blough: I believe that Bracket 1 is a dog fight. When it’s all said and done, it comes down to UCLA’s pitching vs. TCU’s hitting. And TCU can also bring it on the mound. When you add the injury of UCLA’s Tyler Rahmatulla and Cody Keefer, it’s just too much for UCLA to overcome. I’m giving the nod to TCU. But, only after they fight it out on Friday AND Saturday.
Bracket 2, statistically speaking, looks like it’s going to be a runaway for ASU. But surprises happen! Arkansas took ASU to 12 in both games in the Tempe Super Regional. But, I don’t believe any surprises are going to happen in this bracket. Oklahoma will be the sparring partner for ASU, but ASU moves on.
TCU can make it ping! But will ASU’s arms be able to silence them? Yes, they can! The Sun Devils are ranked #1 for a reason. They welcome the newcomers to Rosenblatt, but unfortunately for the Horned Frogs, it’s with a broom. ASU sweeps the Championship
Kat Hasenauer: She has decided to do a full bracket that can be viewed by clicking here.
Mark Rafferty: ASU over Florida in final.

Gatros best team left? You must be on Crack! I’ll take UCLA, TCU, and ASU over them. Pitching my man, Pitching.
Hey, the Gators looked outstanding against Miami last weekend but look dead tonight.
