LOUISVILLE , Ky.— Junior southpaw Richie Goodenow, in his first start of the year and just the second start in 68 career outings, held Louisville to only two hits and faced just two over the minimum to lead Vanderbilt to a 7-0 win Sunday afternoon at the NCAA Louisville Regional.

For the second straight year, the Commodores (44-18) will force a second championship game against the Cardinals (50-13) Monday night at 5 p.m. CT/ 6 p.m. ET, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals.

Vanderbilt 10 Illinois State 4

LOUISVILLE , Ky.— Vanderbilt broke open a 5-4 game with five runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Illinois State 10-4 Sunday afternoon in an elimination game at the NCAA Louisville Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The Commodores improved to 43-18 overall and advanced to the championship round against Louisville for the second straight year. The Redbirds season ended at 32-24.
