South Carolina 10 Virginia Tech 2

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina scored six runs in the sixth inning and held Virginia Tech scoreless over the final eight frames to earn a 10-2 victory in the championship game of the NCAA Baseball Columbia Regional on Sunday night at Carolina Stadium, securing a Super Regional spot for the first time since 2007.

The Gamecocks will not know their next postseason destination until Monday night; Coastal Carolina defeated College of Charleston to force an if-necessary game on Monday to decide the Myrtle Beach Regional title. If the Chanticleers win again, the Gamecocks will travel to Myrtle Beach; if the Cougars win, Carolina Stadium is a potential host site for next weekend’s Super Regional.
