TCU 11, Arizona 5
FORT WORTH, Texas – Joe Weik connected on two home runs and freshmen Matt Purke held the Arizona bats in check en route to leading the Horned Frogs to an 11-5 victory on Saturday evening at Lupton Stadium in the Fort Worth Regional.
Weik finished the evening with four hits – including a pair of home runs – to go along with a career-high six runs batted in and two runs scored.
Weik’s first home would come in the top of the fourth inning when Matt Curry – who set a single-game record with five walks – reached first followed by the TCU junior’s fourth home run of the season over the left field fence to give TCU a 6-1 lead.
Baylor 6, Lamar 4
FORT WORTH, Texas – Jon Ringenberg allowed just one run in 5.2 innings, and Baylor took advantage of some timely hits to stay alive in the Fort Worth Regional with a 6-4 win over Lamar on Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.
Baylor (35-23) scored five of its six runs with two outs, and the most important hit proved to be Max Muncy’s two-run single in the eighth that extended the Bears’ lead to 6-1.
