CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The top-ranked Virginia baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep over No. 21 North Carolina Saturday afternoon at Davenport Field, winning 3-2 in the opener and 5-1 in the second game to run its win streak to 13 games.

In the opener, John Barr (Jr., Ivyland, Pa.) hit a game-winning single to score Jarrett Parker (Jr., Stafford, Va.) with two outs in the ninth inning to lift the Cavaliers to a thrilling win in front of a stadium-record crowd of 4,257. In the finale, Robert Morey (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.) tossed a complete-game three-hitter and UVa hit two homers in the 5-1 win.

#11 Miami (FL) 9 #7 Georgia Tech 2

ATLANTA – The fifth-ranked University of Miami baseball team evened its series with No. 6 Georgia Tech Saturday night, recording three homers and 17 hits in a 9-2 win over the Yellow Jackets at Russ Chandler Stadium. Seven Hurricanes finished with multiple hits – including Chris Pelaez, who finished 3-for-5 with a homer, four RBI and three runs scored.

The 17 hits for the Hurricanes (37-12, 19-7 ACC) were the most recorded by Miami against an ACC team this year and just one shy of its season-high.

#8 Florida State 7 NC State 5

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (38-13, 17-9 ACC) battled back from an early three-run deficit to even the weekend series with a 7-5 victory over NC State (32-19, 12-14 ACC) Saturday night on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles’ James Ramsey broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI single up the middle in the eighth scoring Sherman Johnson for the go-ahead run in leading the Garnet and Gold to a game two victory.

"I think its fun having the opportunity to come in at a big spot," said Ramsey. "We have been working all year trying to get this thing rolling toward the end of the season. That was a great team over there (in NC State) and fortunately we were able to come up in the right spots."

#16 Virginia Tech 18 Duke 8

BLACKSBURG, Va. First baseman Ronnie Shaban drove in six runs and teammate Michael Seaborn posted Virginia Tech’s fourth grand slam of the season as the Hokies won an 18-8 Atlantic Coast Conference slugfest over Duke University at English Field on Saturday. The win insured the 15th-ranked Hokies another ACC series win and improved Tech to 36-15 overall and 16-10 in the conference.

Shaban gave Tech the lead for good with a three-run homer in the fourth inning. He then added a two-run single in the fifth inning and an RBI-single in the seventh. Seaborn’s grand slam tied the game at four in the second inning and gave the junior second baseman five round trippers on the season.

#19 Clemson 17 Wake Forest 5

Winston-Salem, NC – The #22 Clemson Tigers scored 10 runs in the fifth inning en route to a 17-5 victory over Wake Forest in front of 679 fans at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers, who evened the series 1-1, improved to 33-18 overall and 15-11 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons fell to 14-36 overall and 5-21 in ACC play.

Kyle Parker and Brad Miller hit home runs in the first and second innings, respectively, to give the Tigers an early 3-0 lead. The Demon Deacons tied the score with three runs in the fourth inning, but Clemson erupted for 10 runs on seven hits in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
