ATLANTA – Jed Bradley recorded 10 strikeouts en route to his fourth straight win, and Chase Burnette went 3-for-4 with a home run as No. 5 Georgia Tech (39-9) completed a three-game sweep of Illinois-Chicago (17-26) with a 5-2 victory Sunday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium.

The Jackets recorded their seventh weekend series sweep of the season with the win.

Bradley won his eighth game of the year after scattering two runs on eight hits over six frames. He struck out 10 batters while issuing just one walk. The sophomore left-hander has won four straight games.

BLACKSBURG, Va. Mathew Price tied a career high with 10 strikeouts to lead the 16th-ranked Virginia Tech baseball team to a 7-0 shutout of Savannah State in non-conference action at English Field on Sunday.

The win improved the Hokies to 34-15 on the season, which ties for most wins in a season since Tech went 42-17 in the 1999 campaign. It was the seventh shutout tossed by the Hokie pitching staff this year, which ties for the most in one season since Tech threw a school-record eight shutouts in 1978. Tech has now thrown shutouts in back-to-back games on three occasions this season. The loss dropped Savannah State’s record to 24-23.

#22 Clemson 7 Maryland 5

College Park, MD – Kyle Parker’s three-run homer in the sixth inning gave the Tigers the lead and Tomas Cruz pitched 4.2 scoreless innings of one-hit ball in relief to propel #24 Clemson to a 7-5 win over Maryland in front of 517 fans at Bob Smith Stadium on a windy Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, who swept the series 3-0 and won their sixth game in a row, improved to 31-17 overall and 14-10 in the ACC. The Terrapins fell to 16-37 overall and 4-23 in ACC play.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-1 lead after two innings, then Maryland tied the score 3-3 in the fourth inning. After the Terrapins scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead, the Tigers scored four two-out runs in the sixth inning to close out the scoring.

#24 North Carolina 8 Wake Forest 4

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Jacob Stallings notched three hits and a grand slam home run to propel No. 24 North Carolina over Wake Forest 8-4 Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels won their seventh straight game to improve to 31-17 overall and 11-13 in league play. Michael Dimock suffered the loss as Wake Forest falls to 12-35 on the year and 4-20 in the ACC.

Johnson (5-3) pitched seven innings allowing just two runs on six hits. The junior struck out a season-high eight batters. Michael Morin allowed two runs on one hit in two innings of work.

NC State 21 Towson 0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The balls were flying and the records were falling Sunday at Doak Field at Dail Park. NC State bashed seven home runs, two of them grand slams, and Cory Mazzoni worked six outstanding innings as the Wolfpack hammered Towson 21-0 to complete a sweep of this weekend’s three-game series.
The records and milestones came in a flurry.

NC State head coach Elliott Avent won his 514th game as head coach of the Wolfpack to pass the legendary Sam Esposito and become the winningest coach in program, history.
