WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Seventh-ranked Florida State (24-7, 9-5 ACC) improved to 4-1 on the road in ACC play with a 5-4 victory over Wake Forest (10-23, 2-12 ACC) Saturday evening on Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Seminoles were held to just five hits in game two, their lowest hit total in a win this year, en route to their seventh straight victory over the Demon Deacons.

The Florida State bullpen was dominant Saturday night as Tyler Everett, Brian Busch,Daniel Bennett and Mike McGee held Wake Forest scoreless for 6.1 innings. In 123.0 innings this year, the Seminole bullpen lowered its ERA to 2.49 with 118 strikeouts. Seminole relievers have turned in a 2.03 ERA in league play recording 52 strikeouts in 57.2 innings of work.

#12 Miami (FL) 9 Virginia Tech 2

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The ninth-ranked University of Miami baseball team hit four home runs – including two two-run blasts from Yasmani Grandal – en route to a 9-2 win over No. 25 Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at English Field. The win for Miami evened the weekend series between the Hurricanes and the Hokies, setting up a rubber game Sunday at 12 p.m.

Miami (23-8, 11-3 ACC) scored eight runs on nine hits in the first three innings, plating two in the first, one in the second and five in the third off Hokie starter Mathew Price. Grandal’s two-run blasts came in the first and third, before DeVoss smacked a three-run homer later in the third to put the `Canes up eight after three.

#14 Clemson 11 Duke 5

Durham, NC – The #11 Clemson Tigers scored six runs in the 11th inning after escaping jams in the ninth and 10th innings to defeat Duke 11-5 in 11 innings in front of 1,418 fans at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers, who evened the series 1-1, improved to 23-9 overall and 10-4 in the ACC. Duke dropped to 18-13 overall and 4-10 in ACC play.

The Tigers held a 3-0 lead until Will Currier hit a two-out grand slam in the sixth inning. Clemson scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead, only to see the Blue Devils tie the score on a two-out double by Marcus Stroman in the bottom of the ninth inning. The potential winning run was thrown out at the plate on the play to keep the Tigers alive.

 NC State 14 #20 North Carolina 6

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Andrew Ciencin’s second grand-slam homer in less than a week highlighted a six-run fourth inning, and Cory Mazzoni and Grant Sasser combined to scatter seven hits Saturday  as NC State rolled past North Carolina 14-6 in the second game of a three-game ACC series at Boshamer Stadium.

NC State won for the sixth time in its last eight games and improved to 21-11 overall, 6-8 in the ACC. The loss knocked North Carolina to 21-12 overall and 5-9 in the conference. Mazzoni (4-2) worked the first 5 2/3 innings and allowed six runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out five. Sasser pitched the final 3 1/3 innings and allowed nothing other than a two-out single in the eighth and a pair of walks. He struck out four and recorded his first college save.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore Mike Dennhardt threw a complete game shutout in game one and then redshirt freshman Rob Moir drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th in the nightcap to lead the Boston College baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Maryland on Saturday at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field.

Dennhardt was dominant on the mound in the first game, tossing the first complete game of his career. He scattered six hits and struck out five while walking two. He threw 108 pitches on the day and 76 of them were strikes.

Dennhardt finished the game strong, retiring 12 of the last 13 batters – including 10 in a row – from the sixth to ninth innings.
